Hello All

Sorry for the delay in updating you on this but I have been rather tired and busy.

The Belgian 12 Stars tour has been and gone, the scoreboard has been zero'd and put away, the flags are away with the stumps.

But what a fine time we had and what an even finer bunch of lads they turned out to be. Humour, charm and stamina, the latter shown by the early morning finishes to their social activities and the earlyish starts to the following days cricket.

The actual results are not important, suffice to saythat across the two days honours were just about even, although I think fatigue had a lot to do with the Sunday game.
The weather was typical for here and now and the GB Oval was still looking tired and sad following the floods. But as it provided a full sized ground with a decent wicket plus a bikini end in full view, it was a nice setting for the game on Saturday. The game ran slowly and late so that the evening activites had to be re-set but everyone strolled away happy.
Noteworthy home team contributions include a 78 from Tushar, 43 from Sidd and 41 from Duncan. For the visitors Amit's 100 not out and finishing with a 6 (off of Duncan's bowling) to win on Saturday was a superb knock, with Ajay scoring a marvellous 58 in the same innings. Bowling wise 3 for 35 from 9 from Ramesh was the highlight.

On the Sunday the KAC provided an interesting variation to the regularity of the GB strip but the game passed without any lasting damage. As the dust settled on the cricket our guests produced two bottles of rum and three hours later it was all gone, it was almost as if the visitors had become the hosts! Steve Anthony and myself enjoyed their company and the bus and train rides home provided an interesting blurr against the formalities of the cricket.
61 from Robin was the only highlight with the bat and bowling wise nobody really shone out but my good self took 3 for 18 from 4.

The 12 Stars came as a team and played as a team. It was a pleasure that, for me, is up there with playing against Allan Lamb and touring to Vienna earlier in the season.

So who is next? We have a firm invite to visit Belgium next year and they will always be welcome to come back. So save up your Forints and your Euro's and we'll see what next season brings.
